IN 1999:Ani Choying Dolma established Non-profit organization Nuns’ Welfare Foundation of Nepal (NWF) to reach her vision. NWF began working on its dream; it purchased a plot of land in Pharping, a place in Pharping, a place consecrated as a future home for the young nuns.
IN 2000: The NWF began working on its dream. Project work began to build and grow the Arya Tara School; enrolling seven students in a rented house in Samakushi, Kathmandu offering Tibetan, English, Mathematics, Arts and Buddhist Studies.
IN 2001: The NWF purchased a plot of land in Pharping, a place consecrated as a new home for the young nuns.
IN 2004: Ani Choying recorded her first Nepali CD Moments of Bliss with local musicians in Kathmandu itself and released her album in 2004. Again in the same year she released another album with Steve Tibbets- Selwa (meaning “clear” or “awake”) for Six Degrees Records.
IN 2005:In the year 2005, she released her second Nepali album titled “Smile” and “Inner Peace’’ consists of 4 mantras sung in melody.
A dream became reality. The NWF revealed its new five storeys, well equipped live-in institute of learning in Pharping (Setidevi VDC-3,18km from Kathmandu). The building has the capacity to accommodate more than 50 nuns. The learning institute is located in serene and spacious setting overlooking the Kathmandu Valley.
IN 2006: The NWF constructed a water reservoir with a capacity of one hundred and fifty thousand liters in the Setidevi Village, Pharping. This project was dedicated to the rural women of this region who previously carried water, every day from nearby water sources. The same year three nuns enter the Central University of Tibetan Studies in Vanaras to complete their extended studies.
IN 2007: The NWF established a Thangka Painting School with the kind support of Kinderhlife Nepal, NRNA (Non-Resident Nepalese Association), and Late Mrs. Edda Wolf. Along with other skill centre’s such as Charya Nritya, Sarangi (a traditional folk string instrument) and vocal classes. The nuns of Arya Tara School have the opportunity to learn the important and ancient art forms. The first batch of Arya Tara School’s students completed their District Level Examination with a 1st Division. After the completion of District Level Examination, the foundation provided assistance to the nuns seeking additional education like Diploma in Secretary Management, Diploma in Destination Management, many other related courses like web designing, graphic designing, and etc according to their interest in well reputed institutes in Nepal.
IN 2008: A new academic wing was added to the premises of Arya Tara School. Four students of Arya Tara School began handling the NWF administration. During this year the Nuns’ Welfare Foundation helped more than 15 different projects; including the welfare of women, children and dogs within Nepal. IN 2009: Established a Bio-gas project at Arya Tara School to promote environmentally friendly bio-gas. The NWF formed the First Female Instrumental bank called Shree Tara Band. It aims to uplift and enhance the role of women in the music arena of Nepal.
IN 2010: Celebrated 10th successful year of Arya Tara School. In the year 2010 second batch students of Arya Tara School successfully completed their District Level in second division. Aarogya Foundation was established in 2010 to practice a commitment and “dedication to the service of people in need”, especially for the patients with kidney related problems. Ani Choying Drolma’s new album ‘Inner Peace 2’ was released to a large International crowd at the Radisson Hotel, Lazimpat, Kathmandu in October 2010. Established The Ani Foundation a legally chartered, tax-exempt organization to promote the activities of Ani Choying Drolma in North America and in turn, the Nuns’ Welfare Foundation of Nepal. The Nuns’ Welfare Foundation supported the construction of 30 toilets attached to the Bio-gas project in Sudarshan Budhathoki, Nuwakot. In the year 2010 Nuns’ Welfare Foundation supported more than 15 projects in Nepal.
IN 2011: In the year 2011 third batch students of Arya Tara School successfully completed their District Level in first division. The Nepali version of Ani Choying’s autography’ Phoolko Aaankhama’ was released on October 2011 in Kathmandu. Ani Choying Dolma released her 10th Solo Album, Mangal Vani. The NWF established Red Tara Travels & Tours (P). Ltd, a travel agency which will be solely run by the nuns.
IN 2012: Ani Pema Rinchen the first batch student of Arya Tara School returned back to Arya Tara School after completing her study from Central University of Tibetan Studies in Vanaras as the school Principal. In the year 2012 fourth batch students of Arya Tara School successfully completed their District Level in first division. The first batch students of grade ten successfully completed their SLC (School Leaving Certificate) in second division. The Nuns’ Welfare Foundation established a staff quarter in Arya Tara School. The new staff quarter building remains no longer a dream. It will be an accommodation for teachers, staff, volunteers, guest, etc. Ani Nyima Sangmo from Arya Tara School was selected to represent South Asia Nepal and participate in a three weeks Youth Leadership Training Programme in the U.S.A. A training program sponsored by the US Embassy. The selection was carried out by the Embassy personally among 150 students in Kathmandu, Valley. On April 2012, Ani Choying Drolma gave her blessing and did farewell Ani Nyima Sangmo and her team. It was the first time that student from Arya Tara School had traveled to USA to learn and develop her skills in becoming an effective school and community leader. Three nuns join the Tibetan Ayuveda School in Boudha after completing their studies at ATS. It is taught by a highly experienced Tibetan Ayurveda Doctor. Three nuns who had been learning Thankga Painting at Arya Tara School joined the Tsering Art School in Boudha to complete their Thangka Learning. Further, to this two students successfully entered the Central University of Tibetan Studies in Vanaras for further study.
IN 2013: In the year 2013 fifth batch students of Arya Tara School successfully completed their District Level. In the year 2013 the second batch students of grade ten successfully completed their SLC (School Leaving Certificate) in first division. Aarya Tara Pre-School was established in the year 2013 in dedication to the service of people in need especially for the single mothers. The first batch student Ani Thupten Chokey who successfully completed her SLC (School Leaving Certificate) joined Arunadaya Higher Secondary School , Pharping by taking her subject as Commerce.
IN 2014: In the year 2014 sixth batch students of Arya Tara School successfully completed their District Level. In the year 2014 the third batch of four students of grade ten successfully completed their SLC (School Leaving Certificate) in first division. Again in the year 2014 Ani Tsultrim Wangmo and Ani Kunsang Choden from Arya Tara School was selected to represent South Asia Nepal and participate in a three weeks Youth Leadership Training Programme in the U.S.A. A training program sponsored by the US Embassy. The selection was carried out by the Embassy personally among 150 students in Kathmandu, Valley. In April 30th, 2014 Ani Pema Lhakey Dolma (Principal) did farewell to Ani Tsultrim Sangmo and Ani Kunsang Choden and her team. Establishment of well managed & functional Arya Tara School’s Library on September 19,2014. The Library Management Training was organized by Nepal Library Foundation Nepali, Dilibajar, Kathmandu, Nepal from September 15th till September 19th, 2014.
